Brawl Stars Surge Guide

Surge is a Legendary Damage Dealer Class Brawler in Brawl Stars. He can be unlocked either at Tier 30 Brawl Pass reward from Season 2: Summer of Monsters or from Starr Road. He is the type of brawler that starts slow and unleashes the true wrath in the late game that is because at the early stage, even with high-damage potential, he suffers with less movement speed and sustainability. Mechanics

Surge keeps evolving during the game and at each level, he gains new stats and effects which makes him quite unique. Therefore, you need to play cautiously in the early games to rack up those upgrades, because with each upgrade, your playstyle has to adapt and change accordingly. He heavily relies on his Super and gadgets, as both make him more fearsome and dangerous. These upgrades reset, once he dies or a round loss in Knockout mode. Surge has a high cooldown speed but the reload takes quite a time, so he becomes vulnerable once he’s out of ammos. Additionally, each time uses his Super, he gets a new upgrade that scales up to 3 Stages, which are:

• Stage 1 – Increased movement speed (820)
• Stage 2 – Increase attack range (up to 8.67 tiles)
• Stage 3 – Boosted Main attack’s spread effect (6 projectile shots)

Attack: Juice of Justice

The main attack of this brawler is to fire a single shot of energy blast in a straight line that further gets split into two diagonal shots whenever it hits an enemy. These split shots will only deal half of the initial damage. The attack is good for closed areas and hitting multiple enemies. Later, At Stage 2, using the Super will increase the range of this attack and at Stage 3, this attack will now be split into 6 projectile shots instead of 2. 

TIP: Aim your shots at a wall for reflected shots on the enemies without engaging for a close counter. Once they are cornered and low, jump with your Super to finish them off.

Super: Party Trick

With the Super, Surge throws himself up and jumps towards the enemy in 3.33 tiles range, hitting and knocking them back while dealing some damage upon landing. The character becomes immune to all damages while in the air except the status effects. Furthermore, this Super then unlocks additional upgrades that enhance the character's range, speed, and attack effects according to the Stage level. This Super is especially great to escape when cornered or to ambush and finish off enemies.

 

Gadgets

Power Surge

This gadget, when activated, will instantly increase Surge’s Stage by 1 for 10 seconds but it is unusable if he is already at Stage 3. This has a cooldown of 15 seconds that starts right after the effect of it goes off. This is good for early fight aggression when you don't have the Stages yet and also for Emergency power-ups.

Power Shield

Surge is great at dealing a lot of damage but he still has significantly less health that's why Power Shield becomes a life-saver for him in critical situations. The power shield provides a 50% damage reduction against the upcoming hit damage and additionally 2 ammo gets reloaded. It has a cooldown of 17 seconds and the gadget itself isn’t a shield bubble, it only grants a temporary defense buff.

The Splitting shots from Surge’s attack will also split when hitting a wall. This feature is best for Showdowns where you get a tight map.

Serve Ice Cold

Surgee will be respawn with his Stage 1 Upgrade with increased Movement Speed instead of a complete reset to his initial stage. This is a great feature for team fights, where you won’t like to fall back and start strong along with your team.

 

Hypercharge

This when activated will grant an additional Stage level that is Stage 4 where his main attack range will be increased and even without using Super, the attacks will split into projectiles. Additionally a 15% speed boost, 15% damage boost and a shield will be added. This final form will completely make him a destructive force in Gem grabbing and Hot Zones.

 

Best Build for Surge (July 2025)

To get the maximum output out of Surge, you need to build him properly. This will heavily impact your game. So, here is a build you must try.

Gadget – Power Shield

For the next 2 seconds, grants 50% damage reduction of the next incoming hit and quickly reloads 2 ammo.

Star Power – To the Max!

The Splitting shots from Surge’s attack will also split when hitting a wall.

Gear 1 – Damage

Damage dealt is increased by 15% if Health is under 50%.

Gear 2 – Shield

Grants a Shield of 900HP which gets consumed by Surge and the shield will generate over a time period of 10 seconds once his HP is full.

 

Tips On How to Play Surge
