Hi, Travelers!
As Lohen is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about upcoming Cryo characters in Genshin Impact, plenty of players are already looking ahead to how they should build him. In this Lohen build guide, we’ll go over his kit, talent priority, materials, signature weapon, and the best team comps to help you get the most out of him.
Lohen’s current kit details are based on Genshin Impact beta information, so they may still change before his official release. As always, please refer to the official announcements for the final version.
Overview

Rarity: 5-star | Element: Cryo | Weapon: Polearm
Lohen is a Cryo Main DPS who operates through his unique Stratagem state. Unlike traditional carries who just spam buttons, Lohen’s damage is a collaborative effort. He builds Joy through his own attacks while his teammates generate Triumph by dealing damage. When both resources peak, he unleashes Piercing Frost, a devastating nuke that scales directly off how much your team contributed during his window.
Lohen Kit
Elemental Skill — Deceptive Maneuver
After using Skill, Lohen enters Stratagem. During this state:
- his Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks deal Cryo damage that can’t be overridden
- his own Normal and Charged Attacks build Joy
- nearby teammates dealing damage build Triumph
- once Joy hits max, Skill turns into Piercing Frost
- leaving the field ends Stratagem and clears the stored resources
|
Joy |
A resource gained in the Stratagem state, up to 100 points. Normal Attacks generate 15 Joy per hit, while Charged Attacks generate 18 Joy per hit. This gain can occur at most once every 0.1s. When Joy reaches its maximum, Deceptive Maneuver is replaced by Piercing Frost. |
|
Triumph |
Generated when party members deal damage when Lohen is in Stratagem state, up to 100 points. If the damage dealt is ≥1000% of Lohen's Base ATK, he gains 20 Triumph; otherwise, 1 Triumph. Each party member can gain Triumph at most once every 0.1s. |
Elemental Burst — Judgement Fulfilled
Lohen performs rapid consecutive slashes forward, consuming all Triumph to deal Cryo DMG. Damage increases based on the amount of Triumph consumed. If Lohen is in Stratagem when activated, the current Stratagem duration is extended by 1.65s.
Talents
His currently leaked passives do a few important things:
|
Forbidden Admonition |
While in Stratagem, nearby teammates generating Triumph for Lohen will grant an extra 60 Triumph if their damage is ≥4000% of Lohen’s Base ATK. |
|
Masterpiece of Jest |
While in Stratagem, nearby teammates who trigger Cryo-related elemental reactions gain 15% ATK for 8s. Lohen also gains 15% ATK during this time. |
|
Exuberant Arrival |
After using Deceptive Maneuver, Lohen gains the Revelry effect for 9s: increases the level of Deceptive Maneuver by 1. If any skill level of Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, or Burst from nearby teammates is not lower than Lohen’s Elemental Skill, Revelry duration is extended by 6s. Can occur once every 18s. |
|
Hexerei |
When Lohen uses Piercing Frost or Judgement Fulfilled, if Triumph is at least 50% of the maximum, Lohen’s Normal and Charged Attacks deal 40% increased damage for 6s. |
So even without overcomplicating it, the message is clear: Lohen likes reaction-enabled teams, likes off-field pressure, and likes teammates who keep proccing damage while he stays planted on-field.
Skill upgrade priority
Elemental Skill > Elemental Burst > Normal Attack
Skill is the easy first pick because his whole kit runs through Stratagem and Piercing Frost. Burst is your second priority since it also converts Triumph into real damage and extends his stance. Normal Attack comes last; it still matters, but compared to Skill and Burst, it doesn’t look like the first place I’d dump resources.

Best Weapons
Lohen signature weapon
Lohen’s signature weapon, Disaster and Remorse (Polearm), looks extremely on-brand for what he wants to do.

Base ATK: 674 | Crit Rate: 22.1%
After the wielder uses an Elemental Skill, it grants a special effect for 17 seconds and temporarily applies two buffs:
Unforgivable: boosts Normal and Charged Attack damage
Irreparable: boosts Elemental Skill and Burst damage
During the weapon’s main effect window, landing Normal/Charged hits extends the Skill/Burst damage buff, and landing Skill/Burst hits extends the Normal/Charged damage buff. In other words, the weapon rewards exactly what Lohen already wants to do: stay in his stance and keep cycling between attacks and ability damage instead of awkwardly frontloading one part of the kit. On Hexerei teams, the image you shared also shows an extra boosted clause tied to that state, which makes the sig look even more tailor-made for him.
So yeah, no mystery here: if you’re pulling hard for Lohen, his signature looks like the cleanest premium option by a mile.
Pull recommendation (Constellations)
C1
Lohen’s Triumph maximum is increased to 250% of the original. Additionally, while in Stratagem, Triumph generated for Lohen by nearby teammates’ damage is also increased to 250% of the original.
C2
While in Stratagem, for 4s after using Piercing Frost or Judgement Fulfilled, Lohen gains Blade of Purity: the next Normal or Charged Attack hits enemies an additional time, dealing 300% of Lohen’s ATK as Cryo AoE DMG, and increases nearby teammates’ Elemental Mastery by 125 for 8s. Can occur once every 4s.
C2 is where Lohen starts feeling much more complete. It adds an extra hit to his next Normal or Charged Attack after using Piercing Frost or Burst, which gives him a more noticeable personal damage bump than C1 alone. On top of that, the Elemental Mastery buff also gives the team a little more value in reaction-oriented setups. If you already know you want to invest past C0, C2 is probably the most attractive long-term target.
C3
Increases the level of Deceptive Maneuver by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C4
When Lohen uses Judgement Fulfilled while in Stratagem, Triumph is automatically filled to the maximum. Additionally, when Lohen enters Stratagem, if Energy is not full, he restores 15 Energy. If Energy is full, then for the next 15s, using Judgement Fulfilled restores 15 Energy to Lohen.
C5
Increases the level of Judgement Fulfilled by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
C6
Using Piercing Frost or Judgement Fulfilled while in Stratagem does not consume Triumph. Instead, Joy is immediately filled to maximum and the next Piercing Frost cast extends the current Stratagem duration by 1.25s. Can occur once every 7s. Additionally, all damage dealt by these abilities has +80% CRIT DMG.
If you only want a practical stopping point, C1 is the safest recommendation, while C2 is the better premium target if you’re willing to invest more. C1 gives Lohen a much bigger Triumph cap and greatly improves how much Triumph his teammates can generate for him, which makes his whole kit feel smoother right away. C2 then adds extra personal damage and some team utility, making it the more complete upgrade if you plan to play him long term.
Recommended stopping points
C0: Fine if you just want to play Lohen.
C1: Best low-to-mid investment stopping point.
C2: Best premium stopping point for players who want more than baseline performance.
C6: Only if you plan to fully commit.
Best Teams
You basically cannot play Lohen optimally without Durin and Nicole. They are his battery and primary reaction triggers.
Lohen + Durin + Nicole + Flex

Lohen |
Nicole |
Citlali / Zhongli /Xilonen |
Lohen wants teammates dealing damage in the background to feed Triumph
Nicole and Durin are the pair most often tied to his current best-looking setups
The main thing people may overlook with Lohen is interruption resistance. His kit and signature both really want him to keep his uptime clean. If Nicole’s shield ends up feeling flimsy in practice, your fourth slot should be someone who helps him stop getting bullied mid-string.
Best flex options:
Zhongli for comfort and rock-solid interruption resistance
Citlali if you want more defensive help and team utility
Xilonen if Nicole’s protection is already enough and you want to lean harder into damage
