Who Is Arthur?

Who Is Arthur?

Arthur is a UR (Ultra Rare) hero from the Warrior faction, and his class is Tank. He’s the first UR you’ll see pop up in the Tavern, which is great news because it means you can start building him early .

Here’s what his max-level stat line looks like:

  • ATK: 15,971
  • HP: 2,236,301 (yes, over two million)
  • DEF: 15,971
  • CMD: 350

But here’s the thing that separates Arthur from every other tank in the game: he doesn’t just protect himself. He protects the whole squad.

Most tanks in Last Asylum are selfish. They soak damage for themselves, maybe taunt a few enemies, and call it a day. Arthur? He’s out here giving damage reduction to every tank on your team, throwing up massive HP-scaling shields every 4.5 seconds, and slamming the ground so hard that enemies think twice about touching your DPS .

If Arthur is your first major hero investment (and he absolutely should be), you’re doing it right.

Arthur’s Full Skill Breakdown

Let’s talk skills. I’m going to give you the exact numbers, the star scaling, and—more importantly—the mechanics that most guides gloss over.

Arthur

Battle Shield (Auto Attack)

Arthur swings his shield, dealing 750% ATK Physical DMG to a single enemy.

Star scaling:

  • 1⭐: +40% extra damage
  • 5⭐: +100% extra damage
  • 10⭐: +200% extra damage

Look, Arthur isn’t here to top the damage charts. But at high stars? That 200% bonus means his autos actually contribute meaningful chip damage between ability rotations. It’s not nothing .

Earthshattering (Ultimate) – Cooldown: 6.4s

Arthur slams the ground, dealing 1407.5% ATK Physical DMG to all enemies in range AND reduces Physical DMG taken by allies by 32.5% for 5 seconds.

Star scaling:

  • 2⭐: +3% Physical DMG reduction
  • 6⭐: +4.5% Physical DMG reduction
  • 10⭐: +7.5% Physical DMG reduction

At 10⭐, that’s 47.5% Physical DMG reduction for your entire squad.

Here’s what most guides won’t tell you:

This reduction is Physical DMG only. In PvP, when you’re facing Energy or Magic damage dealers, Earthshattering’s mitigation is partial—not total. Don’t rely on it as your only defense in those matchups .

Also, that 5-second window is short. Time it to cover your DPS burst window or to absorb a Rat King heavy slam. Otherwise, you’re wasting it.

Rock Solid (Active) – Cooldown: 4.5s

Grants a shield equal to 25% of Arthur’s current max HP, absorbing 50% of damage taken each time, lasting 3 seconds.

Star scaling:

  • 3⭐: shield effect +20%
  • 7⭐: shield effect +30%
  • 10⭐: shield effect +50%

At 10⭐, that’s 37.5% of max HP as a shield. With Arthur’s 2.2M+ HP pool? That’s over 400k damage absorbed every 4.5 seconds .

The shield absorbs 50% of incoming damage per hit. Not 100%. Arthur still takes the other 50% through the shield. This means Rock Solid extends his effective HP pool rather than making him invincible. Still incredibly strong—just don’t expect immortality .

And with a 4.5-second cooldown? You can cycle this almost continuously during sustained fights.

Strong Will (Passive)

Reduces all damage received by allied tank heroes by 8.25%.

Star scaling:

  • 4⭐: +0.6%
  • 9⭐: +0.9%
  • 10⭐: +1.5%

At 10⭐: 11.25% damage reduction for all allied tanks.

This is the skill that makes Arthur Arthur. It doesn’t just protect him—it protects every tank on your team. Run him alongside Bella or Griffith? Their survivability just skyrocketed.

And unlike Earthshattering, this reduction applies to all damage types: Physical, Energy, and Magic .

Tenacity (Support Skill) – Unlocks at Level 30 + 8⭐

ATK, HP, and DEF +20%. Skill cooldown speed +10%.

This is Arthur’s hidden power spike.

A flat 20% increase to all three core stats at once is massive. It makes his shield larger (more HP), his damage reduction more effective (more DEF), and even his autos and Earthshattering hit harder (more ATK) .

The 10% cooldown speed means Rock Solid cycles faster, Earthshattering comes off cooldown sooner, and Arthur’s protective ability uptime increases across the board.

If you take one thing away from this guide, let it be this: Push Arthur to 8⭐ as fast as humanly possible. Tenacity alone justifies prioritizing his star rank above every other hero on your roster.

Arthur

Skill Priority

You have limited skill upgrade materials. Don’t waste them.

Priority 1 – Strong Will (passive)

Every upgrade here returns value across your entire frontline. The 8.25% baseline reaching 11.25% at max stars applies to every allied tank in every fight, every mode, permanently. Max this first .

Priority 2 – Rock Solid (active)

The shield scales with Arthur’s max HP. At 10⭐, you’re creating a 400K+ damage buffer every 4.5 seconds. This is your primary survivability tool .

Priority 3 – Earthshattering (ultimate)

1407.5% ATK damage plus up to 47.5% Physical DMG reduction for allies at 10⭐. Strongest in Rat King encounters and wave-clear scenarios .

Priority 4 – Battle Shield (auto attack)

The 200% extra damage at 10⭐ is meaningful, but Arthur’s primary value is protection, not damage. Upgrade after the three core abilities .

Priority 5 – Tenacity (support)

This unlocks automatically at Level 30 + 8⭐. No manual leveling required. Just get to 8⭐ already .

Gear Priority

Here’s where a lot of players mess up. They see big attack numbers and think “ooh, shiny.”

Stop it.

Arthur’s job is not to deal damage. His job is to keep everyone alive. Every gear slot should follow this principle:

1. HP first.

Rock Solid generates a shield based on max HP. Every point of HP directly increases the damage his shield absorbs every 4.5 seconds. With Tenacity’s +20% HP bonus on top, HP gear on Arthur compounds twice .

2. Defense second.

Flat damage reduction that stacks with Strong Will’s percentage reduction. Defense gear on Arthur effectively reduces damage twice—once from the gear stat, once from the passive multiplier .

3. Ignore attack stats.

If you’re allocating gear resources to increase Arthur’s ATK, you’re investing in the wrong output. That budget belongs on Marlena or Grenwald .

Pro tip: Upgrade gear to purple rarity and above as soon as materials allow. The jump from blue to purple gear on Arthur produces a more noticeable squad-wide survivability improvement than the same gear upgrade on any other hero .

Star Rank Breakpoints

Star rank upgrades increase Arthur’s base stats and unlock skill scaling bonuses at specific thresholds. Here are the ones that matter:

3⭐: Rock Solid shield effect +20%. First meaningful survivability spike .

4⭐: Strong Will effect +0.6%. Your frontline gets more durable .

8⭐: Tenacity unlocks. This is the single biggest power spike on Arthur—ATK/HP/DEF +20% and skill cooldown speed +10%. Treat this as a hard milestone, not a nice-to-have .

10⭐: All skills reach maximum scaling. Battle Shield +200% extra damage. Earthshattering +7.5% Physical DMG reduction (47.5% total). Rock Solid shield +50% (37.5% of max HP). Strong Will +1.5% (11.25% total). Arthur at 10⭐ is the most dominant hero state in the game .

How to get fragments: Standard summon banners, Alliance Shop, and certain event rewards. Prioritize buying his fragments everywhere until 8⭐ minimum, then push to 10⭐ .

Best Team Pairings

Arthur anchors every competitive composition in Last Asylum: Plague. The heroes around him change based on game mode, but Arthur’s slot 1 position does not.

The Core Duo: Arthur + Marlena

Arthur

Marlena

Arthur

Marlena

This is the foundation of most top-tier teams. Arthur provides the Physical DMG reduction window. Marlena delivers burst damage safely from behind his shield. Together, they handle Rat Swarm, Rat King, territory, and PvP .

And here’s a secret:Marlena costs about $1 from the “1st Top Up” pack. If you spend one dollar on this game, spend it on her .

The Triple Threat: Arthur + Marlena + Griffith

Arthur

Marlena

Griffith

Arthur

Marlena

Griffith

For Rat Swarm and boss content, Griffith’s spirit snake ability reduces monster damage taken by nearby allies, which stacks with Strong Will’s all-damage reduction. This triple creates the most durable frontline available for PvE content .

The Budget Option: Arthur + Bella

Arthur

Bella

Arthur

Bella

Bella is an SSR tank you can get for free from the Alliance Shop. Her kit reduces damage taken from monsters in PvE, and with Arthur, their damage reduction synergies stack beautifully . Run them together as a double-tank frontline—you won’t die easily .

Best Teams

Based on what’s working for most players right now:

Slot

Hero

Role

Frontline 1

Arthur

Main Tank / Team Protection

Frontline 2

Bella

Secondary Tank / PvE Monster Mitigation

Backline 3

Marlena

Primary DPS / Burst Damage

Backline 4

Claire

Secondary DPS / Team Buff

Backline 5

Celia

Support / Resource Farming

This composition covers everything: durability, damage output, and utility .

Where Arthur Shines

Rat Swarm (Tower Defense)

Essential. Earthshattering’s 32.5-47.5% Physical DMG reduction keeps your squad alive through late waves where enemy damage spikes. A maxed Arthur is the difference between clearing Rat King and wiping on the pre-boss wave .

Territory Reclamation

Excellent. Rock Solid’s 4.5-second cooldown means Arthur can cycle shields almost continuously through extended plague ruin encounters. His sustained tankiness allows full clears without hero losses .

PvP and Alliance Warfare

Strong, with caveats. Strong Will’s all-damage reduction protects your frontline against everything. But Earthshattering’s reduction is Physical-only. In PvP against Energy/Magic dealers, Strong Will and Rock Solid carry the defensive load .

Rat King Encounters

S-Tier. The Rat King’s high health pool punishes pure-damage teams without staying power . Arthur provides exactly the staying power you need.

Common Mistakes That Will Wreck Your Arthur

Mistake #1: Leveling every hero you pull instead of focusing on Arthur.

Reality:One fully invested hero outperforms three half-invested heroes in every mode that matters .

Mistake #2: Building Arthur for damage.

Reality: His job is protection. Put the ATK gear on Marlena.

Mistake #3: Stopping at 5⭐.

Reality:8⭐ is where Tenacity unlocks. 8⭐ is non-negotiable.

Mistake #4: Using Earthshattering on cooldown without thinking.

Reality:Time that 5-second window to cover your DPS burst or incoming heavy damage. Wasted timing = wasted potential.

Mistake #5: Running Arthur without a secondary tank.

Reality:Strong Will protectsallied tanks. Bring a second tank (Bella, Griffith, or Shadow) to maximize his passive value .

Final Thoughts

Arthur is a UR Warrior-faction Tank with five skills: Battle Shield (auto), Earthshattering (ultimate), Rock Solid (active), Strong Will (passive), and Tenacity (support, unlocks at Lv30 + 8⭐).Build him first, before any DPS or support hero.

So yeah. Build Arthur. Build him right. And watch your squad go from “please don’t die” to “is that all you’ve got?”

Now go save humanity. Or whatever’s left of it.
