In Last Z, having high-level heroes isn't enough. If you want to dominate in PvP and PvE, you need to understand the Equipment system. Gear is the hidden multiplier that can make your squad unbeatable or leave you weak against lower-level opponents.

This guide covers everything from the basics of gear quality to advanced upgrade strategies and common mistakes to avoid.

Why Equipment Matters (It’s Not Just CP)

Many players think gear is just a small stat boost, but it is actually a massive part of your strength. Equipment doesn't just increase your Hero's Attack and Defense; it directly boosts your Troop HP and Troop Damage.

As you can see in the comparison below, removing gear causes a massive drop in power. A fully equipped hero can have millions more power than an unequipped one, even at the same level.

Gear Quality

There are different tiers of equipment: Green, Blue, Purple, and Orange (Legendary).

The Golden Rule: Green, Blue, and Purple equipment are temporary. Do not invest heavily in them.

Your ultimate goal is to have a full set of Orange Equipment for all your main heroes. Orange gear offers significantly higher base stats and promotional attributes compared to Purple gear.

Where to Get Gear: The Merit Shop Mistake

One of the biggest mistakes new players make is spending their Honor Points (Merit) on resources or speedups in the early game.

Strategy: From Day 1, you should use your Merit Points in the Alliance Store/Honor Shop to buy Orange Equipment Chests or Power Ore. If you waste points on resources now, you will be weeks behind other players later when you desperately need gear.

Upgrade Strategy: The Level 20 Milestone

When you get a piece of Orange gear, don't just upgrade it randomly. Your first goal is to get every piece of equipment on your main squad to Level 20.

Why Level 20?
Level 20 is the requirement to unlock Promotion (Star Levels). You cannot add stars to your gear until it hits this level.

  • Cost for Lvl 1-10: Approx. 65,000 Ore.
  • Cost for Lvl 11-20: Approx. 135,000 Ore.

Promoting Gear: The Huge Stat Boost

Once your gear is Level 20, you can "Promote" it. This adds stars to the item and gives a massive percentage boost to Hero Attack/Defense and Troop Damage/HP.

Pro Tip: The First Promotion (1 Star) gives the biggest "bang for your buck." It provides a huge jump in stats for a reasonable cost. Subsequent stars cost significantly more gold and blueprints for smaller diminishing returns.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Upgrading Purple Gear too high: Do not take Purple gear past Level 20. It is a waste of ore that you cannot fully recover when you eventually switch to Orange.
  • Focusing on one hero only: It is often better to bring all your main squad's gear to 1 Star (Promoted) rather than maxing out one single hero while the rest have weak gear.
  • Ignoring Blueprints: Save your blueprints! You will need hundreds of them later.

Conclusion

As you can see, maxing out your gear requires a massive amount of Upgrade Ore and Gold. Grinding these resources through daily tasks can take months, slowing down your domination of the server.
