With her yin-yang hair color (black on the left and white on the right), a bright red short coat paired with a pure white short skirt, and her cold and stern expression, Lacrimosa has quickly captured the attention of numerous players in Neverness to Everness. This Lacrimosa build guide will conduct an in-depth analysis of this character's skill mechanics, cultivation configuration, and team recommendations, providing you with a detailed reference.
Lacrimosa Overview

Rarity: S-Rank | Element: Chaos
Lacrimosa is a Chaos main DPS who turns every fight into a race of inflicting Nightmare and dealing Nightmare DMG over time. She specializes in dealing Chaos DMG through rapid multi-hit sequences. Her kit rewards fast, multi‑hit sequences and gets stronger the longer she stays on the field. Each time her attacks hit, she applies Nightmare stacks without refreshing existing ones.
What sets her apart from other DPS characters is the ability to borrow enemy attack modules mid‑combat — letting her adapt to different situations without changing her gear. She also brings major exploration and economy bonuses outside of battle. She works best in a Discord team and scales exceptionally well with early awakenings. If you want a versatile Chaos DPS that grows with your account, Lacrimosa is a solid investment.

Lacrimosa Skill Details
Basic Attack: Sweet and Sour
Lacrimosa has two Basic Attack modes that you can switch at any time by pressing the dedicated button (G on PC). The current Basic Attack style determines certain parts of her kit, including her Ultimate pattern.
Tomato Metal (Melee Mode)
Lacrimosa swings her frying pan in a 5‑part sequence, dealing Chaos damage across roughly 13 damage instances. Each hit applies Nightmare. The projectile from the 2nd hit can be shattered by subsequent attacks, causing an explosion that deals extra Chaos DMG.
Tomato Percussion (Ranged Mode)
Lacrimosa fires finger guns in a 5‑part sequence, dealing Chaos damage across roughly 9 individual hits.
Switching Modes
When switching from Tomato Metal to Tomato Percussion, she performs a flying kick forward. When switching back, she leaps and slams the ground. These are single‑hit switching actions, not part of the regular attack strings.
Nightmare (DoT)
Every single Basic Attack hit applies 1 stack of Nightmare, up to a maximum of 10 stacks on an enemy. Each stack lasts 3 seconds and deals 12% of its damage over time as Chaos DoT. The total Nightmare DMG dealt scales with her ATK and CRIT stats.
Important: applying a new Nightmare stack prevents Nightmare stacks from being refreshed — it does NOT extend the duration of existing stacks. To maximize damage, you want to stack as many hits as possible within a short window.

Skill: Morning Tomato
Without copying any enemy skill, Lacrimosa throws a fast Morning Tomato attack, manipulating unfinished Esper Ability Constructs to deal 1 instance of Chaos DMG to each target hit in the area and inflicting 5 stacks of Nightmare. After casting Morning Tomato, she can follow up with the fifth hit of her Basic Attack sequence.
Copying Enemy Skills
By holding down the Basic Attack button, Lacrimosa can shoot and copy certain anomaly monsters (anomaly mons) in combat, learning their combat technique. Once copied, her default Morning Tomato skill is replaced by Devilish Gift, which performs that anomaly’s attack. Casting Devilish Gift also provides an attack buff to Lacrimosa, granting a percentage of the original skill owner's ATK.
There are over 45 anomaly mons to collect. Current recommendations:
-
Tomato Devil – best for single target, fires about 32 ketchup packs.
-
Black Tome – slightly less damage but much better area of effect and shorter cast time.
You can freely swap between copied anomaly skills in your deck, or unequip them to recall Morning Tomato. Most players swap‑cancel (switch characters) during the long animation of Devilish Gift to improve rotation speed. When Lacrimosa temporarily forgets Morning Tomato, she uses the learned technique instead.

Passive – Sleep In
After using her Skill once, hitting an enemy with Basic Attacks 5 times resets the Skill’s cooldown, allowing another Morning Tomato (or Devilish Gift). This reset can only happen once per Skill cooldown. This passive is especially useful when you need to inflict Nightmare repeatedly without waiting for the full cooldown.
Ultimate: Working Day Judgement
Her ultimate has two different animations depending on her current Basic Attack style, but both deal the same 1,999% damage multiplier and apply 5 stacks of Nightmare, dealing AoE Chaos DMG to all enemies in range:
-
Tomato Metal (melee mode) – controls a truck, dealing 10 instances of Chaos damage.
-
Tomato Percussion (ranged mode) – dismantles a car, dealing 5 instances of Chaos damage.
The Ultimate costs 120 energy and has a 20‑second cooldown.
Combat Passive – Tomato Banquet
When you trigger the Discord reaction against an enemy that is already in the Broken state, Lacrimosa deals an additional instance of damage. Note that this condition is very difficult to meet in practice, and the damage gain is not considered a core part of her kit.
Lacrimosa's Skill Priority
Prioritize leveling her Basic Attack first, then her Skill, and finally her Ultimate. While all three should be maxed eventually, the Basic Attack directly improves her Nightmare stack generation and Nightmare DMG dealt per hit. The Skill (Morning Tomato / Devilish Gift) is her primary tool for quick stacking and buffs, especially when combined with the Sleep In passive. The Ultimate, despite its high 1,999% multiplier, comes third in priority because it has a longer cooldown and energy cost, making it less frequent in rotations.
Lacrimosa Weapons

The Last Rose (S)
The Last Rose is Lacrimosa's signature weapon. It increases ATK by 14% to 28% depending on refinement. The key is Chaos Thorn: each DoT hit grants one stack (up to 10). Each stack increases CRIT DMG by 6–12% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 10. Stacks refresh on new triggers and can proc every 0.3s.Using a Redirect Skill (Devilish Gift) grants Chaos Thorn immediately. Also, hitting a Broken enemy extends the Broken state by 3 seconds (once per Break), which increases the wearer's Chaos DMG dealt.

Youthful Fantasy
Youthful Fantasy is Daffodil's signature Arc, but it's Lacrimosa's best F2P weapon. It grants +60 Break Intensity. Its passive unlocks Arc: Black Tome after any teammate uses two Support Skills. Once active for 20 seconds, it marks an enemy every 5 seconds, increasing Lacrimosa's Chaos DMG dealt to that target by 20–36%, and deals bonus Chaos DMG equal to 200–320% of her ATK when the target takes Break Damage.
Best Console
Diablo's Four-Set is optimal for maximizing Lacrimosa's damage output.

Epic (2): Chaos DMG Bonus +10%. Legendary (4): Ignores 12% of enemies' Chaos RES. Ignores 24% of enemies' Chaos RES for 20 seconds after the wearer participates in Nova or Scorch reactions. It's her best console set, which ignores Chaos res and increases Chaos DMG. |
Lacrimosa Awakening Effects

Explanation |

Morning Spell |
A6 |
After casting Devilish Gift, switching to Lacrimosa from any character that can trigger Nova, Scorch, or Discord within 5 seconds allows her to automatically cast her Support Skill and trigger the corresponding Esper Cycle without cycle energy accumulation. The ability to trigger consistent cycles leads to a sharp increase to the team's overall damage. If you only have one Awakening for Lacrimosa this is the best awakening to unlock with her. |
|
Almighty Lord of Tomatoes |
A4 |
Her next best Awakening to get is her A4 as it extends Nightmare duration to 6 seconds (up from 3), effectively doubling its damage window. |
|
Clock Out Clemency |
A1 |
Her A1 is the next recommended awakening as it further increases her Nightmare damage and pairs very well with her A4. If you have two Awakenings it may be better to unlock her A1 and A4 over having her A6 especially if the team is not built around the Cycle Reaction damage. |
|
Tempered Glass Judgement |
A5 |
Lacrimosa's 4th recommended Awakening is her A5. It reduces the target's Max HP, restoring HP equal to a portion of Nightmare damage dealt, while also preventing Nightmare stacks from being removed when the target is healed. Similarly to her A1, this Awakening is much more useful if you can unlock her A4 as this awakening prevents the Nightmare effect from being removed before the end of its DoT is over. If you have only three Awakenings similarly to if you only have 2 it may be better to not run the A6 and instead run her A4, A1, and A5 together for maximum effectiveness of her Nightmare damage. |
|
Rise and Shine |
A2 |
Lacrimosa's 5th recommended awakening is her A2. This increases Lacrimosa's damage dealt by 15% for 15 seconds after she enters using a Support Skill. This Awakening pairs greatly with her A6 as it can automatically trigger her support skill making it easier for Lacrimosa to maintain the buff. If you only have 2 awakenings this skill and her A6 might be a preferable pair if you are running a team designed around Cycle Reactions. |
|
Molten Ice Cream |
A3 |
The last recommended awakening for Lacrimosa is her A3. This awakening allows Lacrimosa to triggerall accumulated Nightmare effects at once on the 5th hit of her Basic Attack. While useful for more quickly finishing fights there is no actual damage increase to Lacrimosa from this making it largely a personal choice if you use it. |

Team Recommendation

|
Lacrimosa |
Fadia |
Daffodill (S-rank) |
Sakiri (S-rank) |
Tier 0 Team Comp: Lacrimosa + Fadia + Daffodil + Sakiri
This is a standard Dissonance Dark team built around Lacrimosa as the core carry. Sakiri provides grouping and crowd control, Daffodil handles Fortitude Break and damage amplification, and Fadia applies the Soul element while ensuring team survivability. Together, they maximize Lacrimosa's Nightmare DoT and burst damage, making this one of the most consistent and meta-defining endgame comps in the current version.Practical Alternative
Alternative Team Comp: Lacrimosa + Sakiri + Haniel + Adler
|
Lacrimosa |
Haniel |
Adler (A-rank) |
Sakiri (S-rank) |
Sakiri starts the rotation by grouping enemies and applying the Curse element. Adler provides shields and Curse damage amplification to ensure survivability. Haniel applies the Soul element while stacking team-wide attack buffs. These three synergize to consistently trigger the Dissonance reaction, after which Lacrimosa takes the field to stack Nightmare marks and deal both DoT and burst damage. This lineup features a smooth output rotation and low acquisition cost, with improved fault tolerance thanks to shields. However, it lacks dedicated healing, so it still struggles in scenarios with high sustained damage pressure.
Other Options: Lacrimosa + Haniel + Adler + Fadia
|
Lacrimosa |
Haniel |
Adler (A-rank) |
Fadia (S-rank) |
Haniel and Fadia apply the Soul element, while granting attack bonuses, healing and shields. Adler supplies the Curse element and defensive buffs. The team consistently triggers the Dissonance reaction, and Lacrimosa stacks Nightmare marks to deal sustained DoT and burst damage. This lineup balances offense and defense with high survivability, offering both sustain and damage boosts. However, it lacks crowd control, resulting in lower efficiency when fighting scattered enemies.
Conclusion
Lacrimosa is an excellent character that combines high mobility, mid-range output, and tactical variability. Her normal attacks have a strong sense of rhythm, balancing monster clearing and burst damage; the unique transformation mechanism brings rich tactical choices; and the levitation movement ability optimizes both combat and map exploration experiences. With a moderate operation difficulty and stable output, she is a highly versatile and powerful character worth investing resources in cultivating in the current version.
