Hello, proxies! The Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.2 update brings not only a new story, new characters and events but also two new Drive Discs sets. The launch of heavy-duty support Drive Disc “Moonlight Lullaby” has sparked a lot of discussion.
The Drive Disc setups for each team has changed somewhat in the new version. In this issue, LDShop will explore how to select the optimal sets for Astra Yao, Light and Evelyn, the strongest single Fire damage team in the current version.
Contents
Astra Yao:
- You don’t really need to stress over Astra Yao.
- When Evelyn or Seed’s sub-DPS is equipped with the Astral Voice set, Astra Yao can swap to a 4-Pc Moonlight Lullaby and 2-Pc Swing Jazz setup to provide an additional team-wide damage increase.
Moonlight Lullaby |
2-Pc: Energy Regen +20% |
4-Pc: When a Support character activates an EX Special Attack or Ultimate, all squad members gain +18% DMG for 25s. Refreshes on reactivation. Passive effects of the same name do not stack. |
|
Swing Jazz |
2-Pc: Energy Regen +20% |
4-Pc: Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members' DMG by 15% for 12s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack. |
- In other cases, a 4-Pc Astral Voice with 2 Energy Regen W-Engines will adequately cover the build.
- Using a 2-Pc Swing Jazz set can provide the energy regeneration needed for consistent skill usage, especially with lower-end W-Engines.
- Choose Energy Regen (such as the Kaboom the Cannon, which is Lucy's signature weapon) for the 6th slot if you W-Engine provides less energy regeneration to maintain consistent quick assists and ultimates and to reduce the pressure of equipping with Endgame Gear.
- Choose Energy Regen when using an attack weapon, such as the Soukaku’s signature weapon Bashful Demon.
- For players with a capped main DPS skill level, Astra Yao equipped with Kaboom the Cannon can serve in the 6th slot for energy regeneration, and once Energy Regen is maxed, the secondary stat can be prioritized.
- For proxies equipped with Soukaku’s signature weapon who already have 3,429 ATK and no energy issues, there’s no need to intentionally raise the attribute further.

Lighter:
- Lighter requires minimal maintenance, with the optimal drive unchanged as Lighter always enter the field via Quick Assist.
- King of Summit is the best Drive Disc for Lighter since it provides Impact and a CRIT DMG buff to the squad after using an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack.
- The ideal match is 4-Pc King of the Summit and 2-Pc Shockstar Disco, which will allow lighter to provide buffs while having some extra Impact.
- For Stun Agents, King of the Summit excels by enhancing Daze DMG on all attacks and improving CRIT DMG for allies, resulting in higher damage output in Chain Attack setups.
King of Summit |
2-Pc: Increases Daze of attacks by 6% |
4-Pc: When a Stun character uses an EX Special Attack or Chain Attack, all squad members gain 15% CRIT DMG. If the equipper’s CRIT Rate is ≥50%, an additional 15% CRIT DMG is applied for 15s. Duration refreshes on retrigger. Identical passive effects do not stack. |
|
Shockstar Disco |
2-Pc: Increases Impact by 6%. |
4-Pc: Basic Attacks, Dash Attacks, and Dodge Counters inflict 20% more Daze to the main target. |
- In combat, focus on well-timed EX Special Skills and controlled knife flick frequency, and remember to stack the Astral Voice when switching squad members who enters the field using a Quick Assist.
Evelyn:
- Unfortunately, Evelyn still lacks an optimal drive disc in the latest version, and the available DPS sets each have certain drawbacks.
- The following section breaks down the available DPS drive discs for Evelyn according to their intended use.
1. Short-term Use
- Any 2+2+2 combination (2-Pc Puffer Electro, 2-Pc Branch and Blade Song, 2-Pc Inferno Metal) works well in the early game if optimal Endgame Gear isn't yet available for you.
- Inferno Metal’s trigger conditions are strict, and its Crit Attack bonus can easily exceed the cap, making stat stacking awkward. Therefore, it is not recommended for Evelyn currently.
Inferno Metal |
2-Pc: Increases Fire DMG by 10%. |
4-Pc: Hitting a Burning enemy increases the equipper’s CRIT Rate by 28% for 8s. |
2. Ideal Selection
- By properly managing the timing and duration of Woodpecker Electro, achieving two effect levels is easy, granting 18% in-game EX Special attack and 8% CRIT ATK Rate.
- The set has decent strength but isn’t recommended for use. It can be combined with others if desired but consider alternative options if you haven’t obtained it.
Woodpecker Electro |
2-Pc: Increases CRIT Rate by 8%. |
4-Pc: Landing a critical hit with a Basic Attack, Dodge Counter, or EX Special Attack boosts the equipper’s ATK by 9% for 6s. Each skill’s buff duration is tracked independently. |
|
Puffer Electro |
2-Pc: Increases PEN Ratio by 8%. |
4-Pc: Ultimate DMG increases by 20%. Activating an Ultimate also boosts the equipper’s ATK by 15% for 12s. |
- Puffer Electro is a good choice when your team provides strong attack and fire damage buffs, allowing for penetration ratio to become more valuable, then you will essentially have the ideal Endgame Gear for Evelyn.
- With powerful Ultimate damage, instant use, and significant follow-up burst, she is well-suited for 4-Pc Puffer Electro.
- If you own Lv.1 Mindscape Cinema, it can boost Evelyn’s combat performance when using duplicate copies of that character.
- Hormone Punk continues to offer the highest strength ceiling for Evelyn because of its strong in-game attack.
- However, it is necessary to control the timeline, energy value, imbalance value, etc., and the output process must also be ensured to be proficient and smooth.
- This is the optimal choice for experienced players, so P2F players can skip equipping it.
3. A New Approach: Evelyn with Astral Voice
- One effective setup is Astra Yao with Moonlight Lullaby and Evelyn with Astral Voice, maximizing Astra Yao’s versatility and Evelyn’s non-role-specific strengths, while also benefiting from a 2-Pc set.
- Rationally, this combination is equivalent to Evelyn receiving 10% ATK and 18% DMG for the Moonlight Lullaby set.
- The Astral Voice is already accessible, and the Astra Yao, Lighter and Evelyn team has sufficient sources of damage boost. In terms of overall strength, this combination is still slightly weaker.
Astral Voice |
2-Pc: ATK +10% |
4-Pc: Every time a character enters the field through Quick Assist, the squad receives 1 stack of Astral (up to 3 stacks, lasting 15s). Refreshing is possible through repeated triggers. Each stack grants the Quick Assist unit +8% DMG. This effect cannot be duplicated within the same squad. |
- If you have an Endgame Gear of Woodpecker Electro, Puffer Electro or Hormone Punk, there is no need to consider the Astral Voice set anymore.
- For players who were running a 2+2+2 combination, 4-Pc Astral Voice remains a viable option. It primarily provides a use for high-quality double-explosion Jiayin sets with Astra Yao, making it simple to obtain the full bonus.
- It offers valuable inspiration for future innovative team compositions, making it highly significant.
Conclusion
Finally, in Version 2.2, there is little changes in the upper limit of Astra Yao, Lighter and Evelyn. However, the innovative dual support set approach demonstrates the endless potential of this established character, and players are striving to build increasingly powerful character builds.
